On a hill overlooking the town of Bernkastel Kues is the former Burg Landshut. This fortress was built in the 13th century as a home for the bishops of Trier. In January 1692, a fire broke out and left the castle in ruins. It has stayed in this state ever since. Today, these romantic ruins can be visited. From here, you get panoramic views over the town, the river and the surrounding vineyards. It can be reached by car or foot from the town.
