Early last month there was a huge flock of blackbirds that invaded the neighborhood every evening at dusk. I estimate there number to be upwards of 4000. I captured this image one of those evenings. I couldn't help but think of the Hitchcock classic.
Scotty, blackbirds are migratory and their roost moves as they migrate. Four thousand birds can indeed be a nuisance-albeit a minor and temporary one. Disclaimer: no birds were harmed in the shooting of this image. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Holly birds Batman! It does indeed look like a scene right out of the movie. We have black birds around here in the fall as well. The noise they make is very annoying. You could spot hundreds of them maybe even a thousand in a single tree. They don't like firecrackers or loud noises of any kind!
You're right about the loud noises, Scott. A simple clap of the hands was enough to frighten them and keep them from leaving too many of their, ahem, signatures on one of my cars and all over the driveway.
