Interior shot from The Church of the Savior On Spilled Blood.

The church was built as a memorial on the site of Tsar Alexander II's assassination and has never been fully consecrated. It was closed by the Bolsheviks around 1930.

It was used variously as a temporary morgue during the siege of Leningrad, and a storage facility for vegetables after WW II. It took almost thirty years to restore before it reopened as a museum in 1997. The restoration included the necessity of defusing a number of unexploded Nazi bombs which had fallen through the dome.

Shot as a handheld, 5 exp bracket, -2ev to +2ev and processed with HDR Efex Pro 2.
D700, Nikkor 17-35 mm @ 17 mm, iso 1600, f 5.6, 1/500 to 1/30th sec.

Russ

The trick is not to make lemonade when life hands you lemons. The trick is to find the person life has handed vodka to and then have a party.
