United States Air Force Memorial in Arlington, VA. Impressive, to say the least, in person. The spires are intended to evoke images of the famous maneuver by the USAF Thunderbirds. I added the star burst for effect.
Wiggle over an then shoot straight up! This image was taken as part of the Scott Kelby World Wide Walk. It is a bridge that connected Midtown Plaza with the Chase tower. Nikon D800; Nikon 24-79 lens at 56mm; f/13. This is a three shot HDR image converted to B&W in Photoshop CS5.
I am always attracted to the juxtaposition of the ruffled blossom of a daylilly against its sharp downward facing leaves. Here those leaves lead your eye..either too the flower or into darkness..depends on your mindset
The Commemorative Air Force's B-17 "Sentimental Journey" shot at it's stopover at Dayton-Wright Field, Dayton Ohio. Shot with D600, Nikkor 18-35 f/3.5-4.5G, @18mm, f/16, 1/600s, ISO 400 B&W conversion in Capture NX2
This is the iron ore dock (or what's left of it) in the lower harbor, Marquette, Michigan. The trains would bring the iron ore pellets and drop them into the bins below the tracks. When the ore boats arrived, the chutes would lower and gravity would deliver the iron ore pellets into the hold of the ship. This dock was retired some time ago and the city is trying to decide what to do with it.
D700, Nikkor 24-120mm f/4 @ 35mm, f/11, ISO 200, with tripod.
