Wonderful capture Preston, I like this one. The color looks great! I have driven through areas like this but never stopped to shoot anything. I bet these large rocks are very impressive to witness standing their in person.

Been in a hurry, Scott?
Nice image, Preston. Have you considered lowering the red saturation? Even the bushes in the foreground look more red than green. Is it because they are lit by the reflection from the red rocks? If you changed the bushes to green, it might emphasize the color of the rocks.
It's so hard to illustrate height and depth in a landscape shot. You did it here. Yeah, the red's a question, and go ahead and try some adjustments, but the overall impression is -- very impressive! Good job.
Really nice capture. Excellent composition , perspective. I like the play of the shadows, the textures, the sky features. The sun must have been pretty high at that moment. I am surprised that you do not have burnt highlights. Like others I would probably lower a bit the saturation for the red. Jean-luc
Preston, I like this image a lot better than your "remake". The saturation is very much how I remember these bright, harshly lit desert scenes. The grass is in foreground is lit enough that I don't have to look too hard to see what it is, and the bright patch of greass in the middle doesn't appear unnanturally bright given the bright tone of the rocks and road leading up tot he green patch. The shadows in the middle aren't distracting as they now appear more natural since this is a brightly lit scene where such shadows are expected.
This image, with the high key rocks, and beatiful sky has a stronger impact to me, by far, than your subsequent modification.
T'm not seeing where you were advised to tone it down in the critiques of others so please take my comments for what they may be worth. One thing of note, I like the placement of that round rock in foreground to camera left, it helps with the balance of the image.
There were a couple of comments above that stated that the saturation was too strong- maybe it was a little - it was mid day and the sun was out in full bloom. I appreciate all comments good, bad,or ugly - dats how WE LEARN.. THAT NEW ONONE 7 SUITE IS FANTASTIC.. HAVE NOT HEARD FROM YOU IN A WHILE
