Old habits die hard I guess. I just can't bring myself to crop when I see a panoramic composition. This is a single-row pano from 12 vertical images, shot from D800. Manfrotto leveling base/RRS BH-55. 166 megapixels/23x80" @ 300 dpi after cropping. NEF converted using NX2 and stitched in CS6.
Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8 VRII @ 105mm f/11 ISO 100 1/15"
It should be interesting to see the level of detail this exhibits in print as I'm likely to downsample it for printing (20x70" maybe) which is certainly a first for me. The only reason I can see not to stitch D800 images for a large pano would be processing power, and my computer stitched and blended these in about 10 seconds so I'm not worried.
