D4 arrived and I tried it out for the first time on the field during night game. Did not have the focus down and have since worked that out, i hope. Incredible camera! Trying again tonight and hopeful that I can nail the focus a bit better. I have been on this forum less than a year and attribute so much of my improvement thru the incredible support here! Thank you all
For first shot,no obvious "main subject," but like the centre player being slightly out of focus while the two either side are focused. Maybe more to do with DOF & distance the players were from the camera. Shot was framed well with enough room either side.
I did use slight NR, Is it too much? I did not use NR in camera but rather in LR4. I shot another game last night with MUCH improved focus. Had to tweak a few things, as you normally do with a new camera. Have to say that this camera is really amazing! julie
I used my D4 for high school football last season. Wow what a great sports camera! I shot the first day in RAW, but I found that for the school website all I was doing was extracting the embedded JPGs with PhotoMechanic and cropping. The rest of the season I just shot large JPG fine. I used auto WB to deal with the changes from daylight to artificial light. It worked fine. I used manual exposure with auto ISO. My 80-200/2.8 AF-S was at f/2.8 and the shutter at 1/800. I didn't have to change a setting during the game. Under the lights I often ended up at ISO 10000, but the out of the camera JPGs were fine for the website.
