Last Wednesday I attended two basketball games at Pleasant Valley HS where the boys and girls Varsity teams were playing Las Plumas HS teams. The PV Vikings won both games by big margins: 54-36 (boys) and 57-31 (girls).
I’m posting 4 images from each game. All were shot with D700 + 80-200 f/2.8 except #6 and #8 which were shot with 50 mm. f/1.8.
Comments are encouraged.
1. #21 on his way to scoring 14 points for the Vikings.
Thanks, Bob. I haven't noticed a post from you here on the Sports forum for a while and am glad to know that you are still into sports photography.
It's Interesting to me that you should notice an apparent difference in these images compared with former ones. Here's the story. Last July I upgraded from Elements 6 to Elements 10. Since then all of my RAW images have been edited with PSE 10 including photo #1 of this set. Recently I have been reading praises of the new Adobe process version 2012 which powers both Lightroom 4 and the ACR 7 plug-in. Recently released PSE 11 includes ACR 7, so I decided to buy it in spite of having bought PSE 10 which includes ACR 6 only six months ago. Photos #2 -#8 here are the first RAW images I have edited with PSE 11. When I started editing I noticed right away an apparent improvement in image quality. I was hoping that I wasn't just imaging it, and I'm pleased to know that you have apparently noticed the same thing.
What caught my attention is that the images now seem to be smoother in texture. That may not be very good technical terminology to describe what I perceive, but that's the way it struck me.
It does take time to post all right. I have shot so many basketball games in January that I still have photos from about a half-dozen games that I have not yet gotten around to editing so that I can post them here. The baseball season may be upon us before I finally get around to editing all of my basketball photos!
