I have been working out of state the past couple of months in Maryland and had the opportunity to attend a local high school game, Urbana (white) vs. Oakdale (dark). These two schools are apparently rivals and drew a capacity crowd. The large gym was packed and we sat in the upper last row of bleachers, I mean nose bleed section. I was not going to post these but I saw the recent thread about shooting from above so what the heck. Both photos D7000, 85mm F1.8 at F2.8 SS1/200, ISO1600. Joe

That's actually a nice, tight shot with an 85mm from where you were. You definitely had a better angle on those shots than the guy standing on the baseline in #2. A little faster shutter speed and you would have had some really sharp photos.
Is that a uniformed soldier standing against the wall in #2?

I echo Dave's suggestion that a faster shutter speed would have been appropriate. Also, both images would benefit from straightening and cropping. Because of your distance from the court there's a lot of excess material in the images that could be cropped in order to zero in on the action.
