On November 15th our local high school finished a perfect 15 - 0 season at the Georgia Dome beating Lovejoy 21 - 14 for the state Championship at the highest classification.
Maxpreps had the team ranked #3 in the country, with several others having the team in various positions in the top 10.
#6, Alvin Kamara, is the #1 ranked back, by some, in the state.
All were shot with a D800, Sigma 120 - 300 and a 1.4 TC. ISO is 3200 at 1/500 and f4 in manual mode.
The Dome has some lighting issues. Very bright in the center with light dropping off up to one stop as you go to the stop sign. I'm told that due to the type of roof that it is an excellent venue to shoot in during the day with the big fiberglass roof acting like a big softbox. Unfortunately this was at night.
Tell me about it. When I checked in at one of the championship games I shot this fall I was told that there was already someone on the field shooting for that school. I asked "Who?". I didn't recognize the name. While they weren't inclined to let me in, I said I'd get the AD to straighten it out if necessary. They let me in. I checked with the AD. It was a parent - she can do OK in daylight, but not at night. But isn't that how many of us started?
Newspapers in my area like variety in HS sports - tight, wide, irate coaches berating officials, jube, etc. Looking at ESPN and SI, there are a fair number of "action" shots of coaches, although that's a different audience.
