Keith, Jon - thanks.
Jon - manual ISO 320, 1/250 (sync speed), f/3.2. 4 speedlights crisscrossing the gym using PocketWizards, all on one side (would like to get one on the other side for fill). I lock the ss and aperture since I've inadvertently changed them using the dials once or twice.
The speedlights are semi-direct, positioned to point at about rim height or a bit below at 1/4 power and f/5 (manual). This can result in a bit more dramatic lighting than bounced shots, but can obviously produce some odd shadows such as the one up the side of the face of #40 in image #3, where it almost looks like someone sewed his face on with a different skin color. Only fellow photographers generally notice stuff like that, however. If I had my druthers, a suitable venue, and the time and motivation I'd generally prefer bouncing to direct. I still have my WLs.
24-70 and 70-200.
