Old Mill owns two state championships in the last three years, but it wasn't enough last night. Their country rival, Arundel, pulled away in the second half to claim a 60-34 victory. It was 32-27 at the half, then Arundel's defense tightened up while their offense kept rolling.
Unloading on the quarterback as he tries to unload a pass.
On a flea flicker, 23 takes the ball away from two defenders, then eludes 3 more for a big gain. The entire sequence shows just how crazy it was.
That's a full frame shot at 400mm. 1/640 looks a bit slow there, but the QB's face is in focus, so they weren't within the minimum focusing distance, which was my original thought, but the DOF is still probably only about 3 or 4 inches.
Well, I could go for a bit more DOF and another 1/100s, but they can't all be perfect. I definitely hesitated before posting that one.
Nothing lasts forever. They'll likely meet again in the postseason. I'm not aware of any key players who were out for OM, but every year the teams are different - graduation guarantees that.
OM's championship last year was a bit unexpected, especially considering how they were stifled virtually the entire game. A gutsy call by the new coach and good execution on the final play changed everything.
