On Friday evening I went to a JV football game at local Pleasant Valley High School where the home team Vikings were playing the West Valley Eagles. Near the end of the game I was able to capture the following sequence showing a Vikings runner evading a tackle and crossing the goal line to rack up 6 points for the home team.

Camera: D700 + 80-200f/2.8. Exposure: Aperture-preferred at 1/640 and f/3.5. ISO was 7200 on shots #1 and #2, 8000 on shots #3 and #4.

Comments are welcome.

1. The would-be tackler almost has his man.

2. A frantic grab…

3. …fails! (Note the casual attitude in the end zone seating. It was Homecoming Night.).

4. Another score for the Vikings JV team. They won 28-13 which was much better than the Varsity did later in the evening when they were clobbered by West Valley 42-7.
