I've just joined the Nikonians and on some advice from the D70 pages wondered if I could ask you guys a question.
I'm aiming to be a yachting photographer and currently choosing a zoom lens.
I've got a D70 and thinking of getting the 80 - 200 AF F2.8 second hand. Have any of you got any experience of using this when taking boat pictures and if so what did you think?

If you plan to shoot from the deck, you will benefit from VR as well as speed. Also, at times, the 70-200 does not have the reach I want. You might consider the 80-400 or even the 70-200 with TC. Focus speed may also be an issue on the 80-200 (non-AFS) as it is on the 80-400. At times, I'm frustrated when I see a good shot, but the lens hunts and alas, the moment passes.
All that said, I've seen some killer shots from the 80-200.
