Welcome to the Sports Forum (as of April 14, 2010)
Silver, Gold and Platinum members may link to their Nikonians gallery for an inline image to appear in a post in the forums. In doing so, the image needs to be no longer than 900 pixels on the longest side and no larger than 150KB file size; so the medium size version at the gallery should be linked if the full size original exceeds these parameters.
All members may link to images stored on external servers. These will appear as links rather than in-line images. Out of courtesy to fellow members we ask you to please warn about the size of the file being linked to (e.g. 245KB) or by at least typing: “warning: big file.” Remember: When a large tree is coming down in the woods, there is always someone shouting: “Timber!”
Also, we suggest you limit the number of image links in a post to a reasonable number; ideally to only one. Consider that if you post too many links, seldom someone will have the patience to look at them.
Resources - In addition, we would encourage you to look through our Resources section, in which articles are continually being added. There you will find articles on handholding technique, tripod technique, digital workflow, various "how to" articles (fireworks, waterfalls, small kids, etc.), lens reviews (Nikkor and non-Nikkor), cameras, autofocus modules, speedlights, filters, and even creating your own photo books.
Specifically, in our Resources section, we have a Sports Primer, written primarily for the parent trying to take pictures of their children playing sports.
Winner’s Gallery Challenges - As many of you know, there exists a Nikonian Monthly Challenge Winner’s Gallery. Currently, the Wildlife, Macro, Landscape and Online Assignment Forums each produce a monthly “winner” and the winning image is displayed in the Monthly Challenge Winner’s Gallery. The Sports Forum has a similar program whereby monthly Challenges are posted. The process for how the Challenges work and winners are selected is explained In the first post of the currently running contest. The current challenge will be pinned at the top of his forum.
