I just recently rejoined the site after being away from a number of years. In the meantime, I set photography aside, changed careers, moved, got a digital camer and started photographing again, and moved a couple of times. It's nice to be back, and I'm looking forward to being a fairly regular participant.
I decided to start by sharing my most recent street portrait, which is part of a project that I've been working on for a while. You can see more of the series on my project blog, and I'll be sharing some from time to time here.
Keith, welcome back to photography and Nikonians. I like the photo and it is well taken. A bit straight on for me, A part turn/angle of the body/head might have a better, less 'mug' shot. There maybe a better crop for this one. Pretty lady . Maybe her head back and her moving the wisp of hair with her hand would have be more unusual . Post some more . Cheers, Tom

I love this shot of a lovely and most interesting lady. Splendid use of selective focus. The light is great. Her expression relaxed, at ease with you and your camera, showing herself. However she looks tired - pronounced by the dark shadows under her eyes. So those areas should be lit. Also, a bit of skin smoothing could be good. So I tried it:
I may have oversharpened; sorry about that. (Still working from a laptop)
Very nice portrait, Keith, as are the others on your blog. It's good to see another Nikonian so close to home (I live in Lexington). I've visited Charlottesville many times and I really like the diverse atmosphere. I'm sure there's no shortage of interesting people to photograph. Yours is an interesting approach to street photography(if I may call it that), something I always admired. I like the idea of a "photographic census." Do you mind most people receptive to having their picture taken and giving personal information? I may be willing to volunteer on a limited basis and maybe get tips on starting my own. Feel free to send me a private message if you like.
