I've always wanted to visit this great country house ever since doing a Uni project on it's architect, Sir John Vanbrugh. It was built by a grateful nation for it's victorious general, Sir John Churchill, and is at the top end of the English Baroque style, a fitting place for Sir Winston to be born.

Unfortunately, the British summer decided to stop before it started, after a couple of weeks of lovely weather in the middle of spring, and we have been in Autumn ever since Easter, when we stayed in Oxford to see this house. I don't know where the bits of blue in the sky come from, it was more gloom than glow.

Anyway, I did my best on the freezing day, dodged the tourists and hopefully captured something of the grand feel of the place.

D7000, 18-200.
