On a recent trip to TN we spent some time at Cades Cove. Eric Bowels & Darrell Young provided many tips as to where to be and at what times of the day, a big help! Our plan was to shoot Hyatt Lane for sunset as they recommended. We got there early about 5ish. Not long after we were there a pretty good storm rolled through. We waited out for some 2 hours and were left with scenes like this. Thanks guys for all your help!
Thank you David. Landscape photography always seems to be a wait and see what happens event in terms of sunrise & sunsets which I am sure you know. I am a firm believer in good things come to those with patience.
I really like this image. The leading lines of the road and the fence; the placement of the tree; the hills in the background and of course the fog and clouds. Nice exposure taken at a very nice time of the day.
I also like being able to see where the road ends. If it ended behind the tree and the end couldn't be seen, I think it would not have been as well composed as you made it. Nice work.
The only thing I would wonder is if the sky could be punched up a little? A little more cloud definition and maybe the blues in the sky be a little more obvious? Those two observations are really "nit picking" on my part. But maybe worth consideration.
Again, a very nice image and well done. Thanks for posting this.
Hi Ron. Thank you very much for taking the time to leave a very detailed comment, your thoughts are much appreciated! The road doesn't really end there as it is really just a sharp drop but I do know what you mean and I agree. I will take a look at the sky once more as it already took some work just to get it where it is at now. I will try to push it a little more and see what it looks like.
You know, sometimes nature just doesn't give you anything to work with. Sounds like that is all there is in the sky. Mine was just a casual observation. I am sure you have probably gotten as everything out of the sky that was there.
