Sunrise over the Vineyard on Grand Traverse Bay
For those of you unfamiliar with the Old Mission Peninsula in northern Michigan near Traverse City (my hometown) this is prime grape growing real estate and home to some award winning wineries including the first in the region Chateau Grand Traverse (part of which is shown here in the foreground). Last weekend I wanted to enjoy sunrise over the Peninsula and headed out to a popular scenic view near the Chateau. Years ago a wealthy individual bought a tract of land for his home (shown here) to build among the grape vines and enjoy a view of Grand Traverse Bay which is part of Lake Michigan. We're having a long, cold, gray Spring which most of the locals are getting tired of (including yours truly). On break between projects so I'm taking advantage of the time off to get out and see some places I haven't been to in years.
