He's a good looking ape really looks like he is in charge. I took a Gorilla shot at the zoo a few months ago and also did a B&W which I prefer. He is a such a strong subject that I don't really look at the background but you can gaussian blur it to smooth it out as one way to work it.

What a great shot! The black and white really makes it feel like a classic head and shoulders executive portrait that evokes feelings of strength and control. At first, I thought it was the eyes and the detail in the wrinkles, but after a couple of minutes I think it is the whole facial expression. It's a look that says "You're sitting in MY chair." LOL
Heh Neil. Just an idea. When I showed my Ape a few months ago in B&W I left one thing colored, the eyes. These eyes are look dark but if there is any color in them you might want to check it out since that may make this great shot even better. Like the Kramer painting in Seinfeld, "He is hidious, yet I can't look away"
