Question . . . the Kestrels here are for all intensive purposes totally unapproachable. We joke if we see one and merely REACH for a camera they are gone, gone, gone! So are you utilizing a blind, a vehicle or 5000000mm lens?
I tried to shoot this guy in his favourite tree early last week and he promptly flew away. Yet mid-week he patiently posed both in the tree and on the vineyard. I think this is the same guy I got last winter in this vineyard - but that was 700mm and cropped and five minutes, this was 500mm full frame and half an hour or more. Ever since Kip and I got these shots there's been a legion of local photographers camped in front of the vineyard - and no sign of the bird.
Al thanks fort he comments... Al said....REACH for a camera they are gone, gone, gone! That,s the way all Kestrels are they dont like people BUT this Guy just loved to be Photographed and take a look at his Eye. Jim and I were definitely blessed by the bird Gods.
