Thanks, folks, for all the kind comments. Common to all of us, skill is one thing that is essential in making good pictures (not that I have too much of that..), but often times nature contributes in making a picture better. And that's where luck comes in - being in the right place at the right time.
During this quite cold, windy shoot my breath kept on fogging up the viewfinder, I had a hard time zooming the lens (it was stiff from the cold), I had a hard time manipulating the camera controls with gloves on my hands, and I also thought the fogginess from the blowing snow would degrade the images. I therefore had my doubts about the images I was going to get. I was pleasantly surprised when I realized the hostile conditions actually contributed in enhancing the pictures.
It just goes to show, even during bad weather conditions there are often good photo opportunities.
