My father gave me 2 Vivitar lenses

I am background checking on these. So please post any info / opinions that you have especially about optical quality:

Both lenses were bought in the 80s for Nikon EM.
1) Vivitar 19mm f3.8 N/AIS
2) Vivitar series 1 100-500mm f5.6-8 N/AIS

Both looks and feels well constructed. The wide angle is small and portable but it duplicates the focal range of my Tokina. The tele zoom is very long but narrow like a tube. Mounted it, and was heavy, and image thru view finder was very dark.

I thought about getting a decent tele for wildlife (a distant dream really). Now I get one for free but I am already in doubts about its usefulness (aperture too limiting).
