Any suggestions or ideas where I can buy the old Vivitar Pistol grip? I found it very useful especially in combination with the verta flip 2000. I have made several of those (welding), and lost all of them to friends who appreciated the convenience of taking flash pictures, vertical or horizontal format.
A suplus store I frequent has pistol grips with a 1/4-20 knurled knob attachment. They go for about $5US. If you mount a flash shoe adapter to it the assy. would be a grip for a flash. If this is what your looking for drop me a line and we can work something out.
Vivitar Pistol Grip 1 (this is the original model, like Hasselblad). With base for 35mm. CR-1 cable release. The grip itself has a flash mount on top and detachable from the support arm for the camera; designed for left hand. The cable release is not very important.
As I have indicated earlier, I don't have one right now; I could have provided an image of what it looks like. If it is not too much trouble for you, it would be great if you could provide an image of what is available there. I certainly appreciate your effort to help an aspiring photographer.
This is the doo-dad I am talking about. It originaly had a trigger at the top opposite the knurled knob with a pin pointing toward the center of the top plate. I removed it to try to use it with a monopod but it was not to my liking. I will be using it for a bunch of little jobs like mounting a flash shoe attachment and possibly for a grip on top of a miniball but i will have to modify it by removing the potion that used to surround the trigger pin to get a flat surface to allow mounting a body. As I mentioned earlier a surplus store near me has a few in stock nut I don't recall the price (appx. $5US). It is made of cast aluminum and an aluminum top plate, the knob is steel.
