This has been sitting on the shelf for a year. For HCB's birthday (today, Aug22) I've loaded it with film (Fuji Superia 400 - cheap stuff just to check out the camera) and going out. It's not a Leica but it's the closest thing I have to one.
I don't have much experience with rangefinders, but have been practicing my sunny 16, so we'll see how I do. No meters for me today.
>Sweet!!! Great looking camera...enjoy. I would love to own >something like that.
Thanks. It's a pretty solidly build little camera. The one thing that bugs me is that the shutter speed and aperture controls are coupled so it stays at the same exposure value until you take extra time to adjust that.
>Mike, Maybe you should find yourself a Leica. That way when >Ernst Leitz's and Oskar Barnack's birthdays roll around you'll >be all set.
I've got too many cameras sitting around, I've got to pare it down to 3 or so - 1 DSLR, 1 F2, and 1 rangefinder. I certainly wouldn't mind a Leica, but I'll explore my rangefinder inclination with this Konica.
Some pics. No meter no problem (first time I've tried that). The lens is good enough (see flowers close up). Street shooting technique needs a little practice, not many keepers out of 3 rolls. But very happy with the camera, it's nearly silent and the handling is good, I just need some practice. And I can shoot it from my waist for extra stealth. Very good camera for playing HCB Jr.
100% crop, close focus, about 3 feet. Lens seems pretty good. f8 1/500s.
On the boardwalk. Probably f8 or 11, 1/250s.
On the boardwalk #2. f11 1/500s.
Film: old hot Fuji Superia 400 (I was trying to shoot around ISO 200), Cost Co processing/scanning (it's only about $4.60 per roll to process and scan).
