My baby came today. Chunky, but cute. Not as clean as I thought...but I cleaned her up.
First baby pic tomorrow?! ... ;
Going through all the workings ... all seems good.the lens is near mint glass. Cleaned all with a "Q" tip and lens liquid cleaner...and a monitor cloth.Got to take the back off...and fire a few shots. ... almost as loud as a gun. ... !
Well ... tomorrow.
Goooooood-night nikonian world.
Larry ,oh - this IS my prettist camera (.) Two killer lenses on the way!! 50 and 200 -BOTH chunky
Hi Larry. Your new baby looks very nice. It looks like you brought the polish out. The next step now is to show off what it can do.
Your Luna Pro looks nice as well, just like mine, black case and all. I also have the original Luna Six which I bought new many many years ago. It has a brown case. They both still work perfectly. I upgraded both with Gossen's conversion adapter to use modern batteries.

I've been following your purchases but my memory bank has only so much room. I do recall the Sears/Ricoh but not with that many lenses. I do have the Pentax Spotmatic with 4 Pentax lenses, one is the radioactive 50mm f1.4 Super Takumar. I had to keep it on the window sill to get the yellow case go away. That's one sharp lens. And I have 3 Canon film bodies. My favorite is a beautiful black A-1 with the wonderful Canon FD 50mm f1.2 L lens. It's really too bad Canon changed lens mounts. They made some great FD lenses.
Now you've got me interested in the Brooks Veriwide. I've never even seen one.
Stay well my friend.
edit: Just checked ebay for the Brooks Veriwide. Those babies aren't cheap.
(Useable cond. 6 can be had for $300.00 and on up - but -only when available) Shouldn't have let mine go...
My Bronica 50mm is now...returned...and I have a 5cm (really same lens)on the way.
Yeah, my Sears/Ricoh,I liked better than my spotmatic...,Sigma 18mm,Vivitar 28mm,Soligor 35mm f 2.0,50mm,1.5x,7 element 2x,Pentax or Takumar? 150mm w/shades for all save the 18...kinda has a built-in one. Looking forward to useing this outfit.
but, first the "S" ,To not have played with Gloria by now... my Gloria is SO beautiful...!...dreamy...! She may become my FAV. once we engage. To look at her...to touch her.. ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...!
Oh,on Canon - I LOVE THE ORIGINAL F-1,so my FTb - is kinda a second best to me...(oh-and I got an awesome Vivitar 90mm 2.8 macro) And when I was last shooting film(years ago-like 7years)I had a Canon A-1 ...with a Sigma 8mm and a Canon 2x to go behind it...to make a full frame fisheye!(8mm is round image)
Larry, your Bronica looks beautiful. I recently purchased a Bronica ETRSi with the 75mm Zenzanon. I also ave a Mamiya 645 1000s. I posted a scanned picture taken from the Bronica - part of a test roll for light leaks.
I haven't done a head-to-head test bu the pictures from my Mamiya are a bit sharper than the Bronca...internet folklore indicated that the Mamiya glass is better than the Zenzanons..but who reall knows. I have no idea why I have two med formats!
I had a Gossen Luna Pro, but sold it and got the SBC which uses a standard 9 v battery. It's a great meter and very accurate.
Hi Richard. Thanks for your responce, and WELCOME TO NIKONIAN,or,at least to posting....
Two of my 3 lenses are Nikkors ! Early Bronica used Nikkor lenses. Other is not as sharp.(Komura ,softer results)-(didn't research BEFORE buying...but,I still like it better than the Nikkor 200mm,better looking!!!!!!) But really,
it's more like a super classic car...EVERYTHING is not about sharpness or even the final image(dare I say!)!
This camera is like...Dancing with the Queen.SOOOOOOOOOOO much ; more.!
An honor.A joy.If I get ANY nice photography out-of this camera ...it's a plus!!!.
I also had a Mamiya 645 1000s with 3 lenses about 7 years ago. And , funny ,I had a SBC too!
I do head to head shooting ... but this "S"(S2,S2a)is outside the "test" zone...ROYALTY.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (At least for me!!.)
Rich, where can I see some of your 120 photography - do you have any posted in Nikonian? I love photography/the final image-I think-says SO much OF the photographer.
i have 3 pictures in my gallery - same composition but post processed for different mood. they were scanned using my Epson 2450 scanner - and scanned and about 300 or so DPI so they're grainy. Shot with Portra 400 which is really more for people vs. things.
I have a couple of rolls of Ektar 100 that i am going to run thru my Mamiya and Bronica. I have some test shots from the Mamiya - done in bright light - and they are excellent even though they were developed by the local Ritz cracker camera lab....the shots I posted were proceed using a local Pro lab.

Well, went out to shoot today for the first time...
and it was a nice expirence.
Went to Grants pass ,Oregon - for buildings and such - and shot 4 shots with EACH lens (W,N,T).
But-I had something interesting happen; This guy came up to me-and started asking questions;
I was at first "Oh no!-what are you doing-WHY are you? ...."
Then I realized,he may be kinda "slow". He was telling me how he wants to photograph - seemed more interested in film-
And I'm thinking to myself,"I have ALL these cameras...AND getting all these great deals...and I been trying to sell a Minolta SRT101 outfit...including a 58mm 1.4,wth other lenses...for $20-$40.00 and NO ONE WANTS IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!".(I could easily keep this camera and use it)
...thought being...; What about a quality give away?. I know his name and basicly where he lives ... !

Great gentle act... Some of our cameras collect dust or end in a forgotten box, while outside there are people for whom it's already Christmas when they get such a gift ! And who knows, maybe a change of life...
bronicas tend to be more prone to light leaks...at least according to urban legend.
when i purchased my bronica etrsi via ePray the seller included two rolls of ilford film. i used one as a test roll...got pix back form Ritz Cracker photo....showed light leaks....posted scans on photo.net..several folks thought the light leaks looked strange..encouraged me to try another roll..
first i tried shining a led light into body to see for obvious leaks....not a thing. was dead dark. put a mini led in the film chamber to see any light shining thru..dead dark.....so..i decided to try another roll...and take to pro camera shop for developing...BINGO....2nd roll was perfect..
i think either the knucklehead at Ritz dropped the 120 Roll, the film i received was bad, or as some folks on photo.net suggested the roll was subject to x-ray as the leaks looked similar....
i plan to do a head-to-head test of mamiya 645 v Bronica.. which ever i like best i'll keep...the other goes on ePray...

I've had 5 Bronica's of late, C, S, S2A, EC & EC-TL, I've used them all and never had any light leak problems with any of them. The C did need some adjustment for the ground glass getting out of alignment, had Jimmy Kohh in NY do it, a fine job. The S never saw such problems. The S2A has a reputation of going thru film backs, the gears get out of alignment and then get stripped, nothing can be done other than replace the back.
I've recently sold those 3 and kept only the EC & EC-TL never had any problem with either. The lenses I have are all Nikkor's, 5cm (a great lens) 135mm, 200mm and 600mm (about 3 feet of lens).
No, the EC & EC-TL were the last of the original classic Bronica style. If I have the first ones correct the Bronica Supreme was first, then the Z, followed by your S. The C was the first to get away from the focusing knob and went whith a focusing hellical, then the S2, S2A, finally EC & EC-TL. There were also minor variants, in between, along the way. Like there were actually two model C's, I forget what the differences were, minor stuff. The EC's had Bronica's first electronic shutters, required a battery.
Even though I sold it, my favourite was the C, no interchangeable back to goof up, just a good solid bit of mechanical art-work. Of course they all had a definitive sound to em, you certainly knew when one was colse by.
As you stick with the Bronica's you'll, at some point, want to get acquainted with Jimmy Koh in NY. He is Mr Bronica in North America.
S2a was worse condition, like a 7,and it was black - I wanted gray.Oh- and the 75mm was in like condition 5 !...sent it back.
But... he offered my original "S" back to me ,with the internal problem, with a 50% refund. that means for $127.00 ; I get my lens,my finder and my back.Oh-and a disfunctional (good looking)body.
Through someone else on Ebay - he sells everything separate...gonna get a condition 8 "S" for $265.00
I know it's more cost to me ....but worth it to me.Oh and a 60-90 day on it...his ad says 60 and his email says 90.(And, he has a second one - about the same condition).
Anyway - I think this is fantastic news.
Also;my crazy thought is ; I'm done ! I have all the film cameras I (need) - being film shooting costs. This has been - and could be worse...an addiction...like gambling...
if you don't believe me...Paypal said I was at their spending limit; $10,000 I kid you not. Point is ; I have about $2500.00 in cameras - NOT INCLUDING MY DIGITAL.!!!! (My digital was purchased separately) Yikes !! Wish I could have bought this $2500.00 worth of stuff for $2500.00
Anyway - I am very happy. Content. (Basic plan now is to buy only with balance IN Paypal.
I have alot of different/fun cameras to use and enjoy.
I don't want, and choose to not alow my uncontroled spending to continue - 1 to 2 months I'll be all paid up.
Live and learn - but I feel good.(No one was hurt - except my wallet....oh - I have helped my daughters with money - guess I could have helped them more...but they are happy and greatful-and loving.
Larry You didn't need to know all that...but this is a celebration; I'll have an "S",a beautiful "S" ...to use and enjoy...and someday -leave to my daughter. The angels must dance !.
You know, as I play devils advocate here for a moment, all you have to do is get "Approved" and you can say goodbye to the $10,000 limit. How do I know.... umm.... been there - done that... I don't think that NAS is appropriate for this, it's more like xAS. They seem like bits of engineering art work to me and it is addicting!
I 've had to trim my body count back to keep a bit of harmony in the house. I'm down to 20 from 30. I just finished moving all my Nikkormats an FM2N and an FA. But of course I took the proceeds (not to be confused with profits) and pickeed up an F3T and a 20mm Nikkor to go with it, that's it quality not quantity. At least nothing came out of pocket, this time.
Good luck with that self control thing, let us know how it works..
Yes Joe.! I just got approved too.Now I can spend like mad!!
No - only kidding. But Yes on approved / their card.
I have found too ,quality(special)is better EVERY TIME .
And don't forget - I bought and sold some higher end items-many times over....also all returns ...every dollar is counted by them. So- I REALLY didn't loose ALL that money...BUT I'M SURE ON THE LOSS SIDE.
Now, also,(as per you), I'm trying to do as to not loose money. And at least 3 items ; I gained $200.00 each...
In all the ones I've sold I've been lucky enough to break even, maybe made a dollar or two, maybe 2-3 times. The only one I've got that could possibly net me $200.00+ in profit is an FM3A that I got out of India for $100.00+ (I don't remember exactly) it was a real steal. The FM3A and my FE2 are the only semi-pro bodies I have left. The FE2 is the first Nikon I bought back in the 70's so there's a sentimental attachment to it and the FM3A is... well an FM3A.
Ahh.. memories of a life in 120 size coming back. I owned a Bronica ETRS with 75mm and 40mm lenses. Made a few bucks too doing formal shots of sporting teams and school photos.
I bought an AE Finder that wasn't any more accurate than my Luna Pro but did show things the right way around. When I wasn't in a hurry I preferred looking down into waist level finder. That seemed to force me to look more closely at the scene and get better shots. It's a sensory experience I have never had with digital. Maybe it was the reversed image.
Good luck with your camera. Have you tried Fuji Reala 100? It was great in 35mm but now only in 120 I think.
What I was trying to do - is keep all my (film)cameras and meters at ASA/ISO 400 ...so all are the same with less chance of mess up...
when I shot with my 521 Zeiss 645 120 film I decided the 400 ISO was all the quality I needed - and lesser chance of needing tripod(which I seem alerjic to).
I seem to like 120 film better/overall.But if i was shooting alot...I would consider ISO 200 or 100.
Latest news is...I'm getting back my original "S" (with internal problem...with a 50% refund and seller informed me(he wanted me to come out ahead on this)(horrific transaction,time/frustration...)so he is including another body, back and finder!!!!!!!!! Real nice of him.
All this has been unfortionate for me...wanting my "S" outfit to look and work GREAT.!
Turns out two of my best (deals)-for what I like ,are; #1 = my Kowa outfit...at about $150.00 and #2 = my Gloria 6X6 - which I havn't even tested with film yet.
