I was born in Boston, and honestly, have never thought of it as particularly camera friendly- just don't find it scenic, and the people, for street photography, are particularly rude. But these are indeed some gorgeous photographs. Great job!
My experience of Boston has been completely opposite of yours so far. I have worked in Boston the past 10 years and have been shooting a lot the past two years, people are hot and cold about being photographed but for the most part I have been pleased with responses to my requests. As far as not being scenic, I have had a great time walking from Charles St, to Beacon Hill, to The North End to Newbury St. Come back to Boston some day and we will make a day of it. I just did that in New York City for the day last Saturday......same thing as Boston only WOW, lots happening.
As for the X100, I am trying to find a great compact for low light and image quality. That new X10 is more my budget though.
Some of these are from a rainy day on Charles St in April and others from Newbury St in October.
Your gonna miss 100% of the shots you never take, so keep shooting
Those are some really great street shots, Rocco. I also found the people in Boston to be very friendly, and open to being photographed. It's a lot bigger city than where I live (Ottawa), so I find it much better for street photography, and a great city for walking. Between NYC and Boston, I prefer Boston - it's just as interesting but a bit more laid back.
