I'm a D700 user but I'm taking a Panny GF1 and a couple of lenses later this year to Italy to keep things simple and save weight and my wife would prefer I focus (so to speak) on the vacation rather than on the image-making.

I've found through a bit of experimentation that my RAW GF1 images can be imported into Lightroom with a preset that acceptably closely emulates the Nikon D700 D2X profile. Obviously I give up some IQ, and a substantial amount of high-ISO capability, especially if I were to make significant enlargements, but the results for a vacation trip post-processed for viewing on my living room's plasma display should be fine for that pupose.
