am looking into getting my first tripod and would love advice / opinions. it will need to support an old speed graflex (at least five or six lbs!) and an n80 w/a 28 105 lens. not planning on backpacking so weight is not really an issue, however price is.
thanks in advance!

Check out the Manfrotto tripods (Bogen in the US). Bogen 3011, 3021, and 3001 seem to be popular models, are reasonably priced and are quality products. They all support your weight requirements as well. I personally use the 3205GN and like it. You can check the tripods out at www.manfrotto.com. They have a good site that lists all the Manfrotto and Bogen part numbers and all of the specs for each of the products. As for a head most people seem to use the Ball heads. I personally use and like my 3-way pan head - Bogen 3030. If you have your cameras on and off the tripod frequently think about using a head with a quick release - much easier to work with. There are numerous posts in this forum with a wealth of information to help you out.
