I currently have a crappy little Velbon number but really need something more stable, particularly if I'm mounting a long(ish) lens on my F80/MB-16 setup. My current Tamron 90-300 doesn't have a tripod collar.
What combination of tripod and head is going to give me the best stability for a moderate outlay (around the US$125-$150 mark)? The other factor is that I am 6'4" (193cm) so something with decent height without cranking the centre column would be nice too.

A Bogen 3011 or a 3221 -in whatever version- will do splendidly well.
Have a great time :-)
