I am in dire need of a new tripod, and am likely going to get the Bogen 3001N or 3001D. Is it worth the extra $15 bucks or so to go for the D and get the quick release levers? The wing locks seem to opperate very quickly and with no hassle. How have they performed in the field for you all?

Considering you can flip open or closed all three of the new lever locks at one time, they are much faster to use than the older wingnut. They also make for a smoother tripod with fewer protrusions to snag straps etc.
The new model is definitely worth the extra money.
Besides the lever locks, the new model's center post can be mounted horizontally and you can leave it behind if you want to travel light.
