I am thinking about buying a monopod never having used one I am unsure which brand would be the best. I use the Nikon F-5 with the 80-200mm lens most of the time. Also, would need the head to fit the monopod I have read that the Bogen 3265 is a good one. Would appreciate any feed back. Thanks.

Altho I have limited experience with monopods I thought I'd toss this into the mix.
I picked up an off brand 'pod (MGM logo) and due to cost resrtictions put a Bogen 3262 head on it. This combo is excellent for the system I use. The F and N70 both work well with all the lenses in my kit (lagrest being either the 200mm Vivitar or the 500mm Tamron mirror) but I do wish I'd gotten the QR version. I will update as money permits but since you don't seem to have those restrictions the 3265 pistol grip has a QR but just seems to be a little overkill. Its weight of 1.7 lbs is over 1/2 lb more than the 3262QR and its rated capacity is the same. At over 8" tall you may find it gets in the way and throws the balance of the pod off.
Well thats my take on it. Good luck and happy shooting.

I have developed over the years a preference for the Manfrotto (Bogen in the US) line of camera supports, after suffering from using "el-cheapo" monopods and tripods, paying attention to a "Consumer Reports" article, obviously written by a non-photographer.
I have now a Manfrotto 222 (Bogen 3265) grip action ballhead on my monopod (at all times) and works very well with the F5 and the 80-200mm f/2.8D ED AF-S, even when with a TC converter. To minimize my worries about being at its limits in terms of load, I tighten the spring action and it works very well even in odd angles. I a very happy with it and so are the people I have taken the liberty of recommending it to them.
Many people I know seem to go for the simpler Bogen 3229 swivel tilt head with quick release and are also pleased. Below an image of the hand grip action ballhead on my monopod with the VR.
Have a great time :-)
