I need to fix my Ancient Slik U-212. This has been a great tripod but I have one little problem. The rubber mat on the head has aged to a point wjere it has become useless. I emailed Slik and they were NO help.
Anyone have any Ideas?

Cut a few squares out of an old bicycle innertube and stack as many as necessary to accomplish what you need.

As a bike rider the inner tube idea is one option the I would have no probs using but there are other options available.
If you can find an industrial surplus outlet they will have all kinds of rubber, nylon and foam pads that can be trimmed to fit and afixed with a rubber cement (this is a flexible glue to keep flexible stuff stuck). If no surplus places are out there try tool and equipment suppliers, they may have matting for tool boxes and machine surfaces that are subject to vibration. Another possiblity is appliance and/or hardware stores that may have stuff for similiar use.
If you really have no luck drop me a line and I may be able to find some in the Chicago area I could send ya.
