gitzo systematic tripods top plate..
why the new gitzo systematic tripods have different size top plates? series 2, 3 and 4 have smaller diameter top plate to series 5..
thank you in advance.

btw I'm thinking to get gt4552gts but if it is much less stable then the gt5562gts maybe I should consider getting 5 series.. the only downside is it's 0.9 kgs heavier..:/

Welcome to Nikonians
Until the very latest updates, the Series 4 used the same top plate size as the Series 5.
Hard to say "why?"... you'd have to ask a Gitzo designer why things are the way they are, and were the way they were in the past. They may feel that larger mounts are more stable, and in the case of the Series 5 the sheer size of the leg diameter may be an issue.

Hi Neil. thank you for the response..
what bothers me is series 2, 3 and the 4 has the same load capacity and why should someone get the tripod from series 4 instead of 3 for instance? I know the leg diameters are very important for reducing and dampening the vibrations and also for general rigidity of the tripod.
I know I answer my questions myself but I would be happier if the gitzo designers were used different top plates for every series.
..I wish I could talk to gitzo designers and learn about this..
