I don't know of any tripods that do that. You have to loosen the leg lock collar extend the leg section and tighten the collar back up. Some have levers instead of threaded collars, like Manfrottos.

I believe you may be referring to the Manfrotto Neotec tripods, which open and close with a push of a button or something similar. They are heavier than their 055 counterparts, and my impression, seeing it many years ago now, was that it may not be quite as sturdy, so some compromises are inherent in that convenience feature.
I don't think that is "standard" in the tripod world although there may be others like that.
