Markins TH-300 on a Series 3 Gitzo tripod
I had to do some additional tests of my own (having lost the first ones in a disk crash with no backup)
I only had time for a few shots.
Below the full frame as shot, the one at the slowest speed used.
Could not make my MC-30 fit on the D700 so I shot with the shutter button and Mirror Lock Up.
Used the 80-400mm, which has always shown some play in the lens mount, always worrying me, but reminding me of the need for long lens technique (palm on lens pressing down, face presssed over the eyecup).
The tripod is a previous generation GT3530, MAGICized (with a TH-300 replacement hub, Markins titanium spikes, Q20 ball head.
The first image below is of the original target, as shot, resized to 1200 pixels wide.
This second one is the center row at actual size, pasted over a 1200 pixels wide layer.
This 3rd one was shot at 1/100s for comparison
I'll make more tests later with the MC-30 on, at this and lower shutter speeds within the most critical range.
