Hello friends

Long back in my film days, the first tripod that I bought was Velbon CX440 which comes with a Quick Release plate QB4L-C.
The tripod is very well maintained and provides reasonably good support with it's aluminium legs.
Lately, I have taken up photographing Birds with my present setup, Nikon D90+70-300VR. And I feel that the 3 way Pan-Tilt head fixed on the Tripod is not really suitable for quick movements while photographing birds. Hence my thought went to Ball-heads (at present can not afford a Gimball head). What I would like to know is whether it is possible to fix a Ball-head on the Quick Release plate that I have mentioned. If it can be done, that will save me a lot of bucks...

Thank you
