This is a new tripod from RRS and has four sections with the top section having a 28.7mm diameter and the bottom section having a 16.5mm diameter.

It weighs 2.7 pounds and folds to 17.8 inches.

RRS rates it for a 25 pound load.

It's expensive but I know if the tripod is too heavy or too long to pack easily I won't take it with me. So it would be less expensive than a less expensive tripod that didn't make the trip!

Most likely I will use 85mm and under lenses but there will be the occasional use of the 70-200 possibly with an extender.

Is the 28.7mm top section adequate for the 70-200?
