I have a D300 with no battery pack. I am using a RS 55-LR ball head, a 3541 Gitzo tripod and a Really Right Stuff LCF-14 lens foot for a Nikon 200-400 F4 VR lens.

When talking to Wimberley they want to sell me the Sidekick, an adapter plate for the ball head and an additional plate to attach to the LCF-14 due to what might, or might not be a balancing problem. . I am sure one of you has already done this.

What Wimberley parts did you need for your set up and are you satisfied with the Sidekick. For $200 more I can purchase the full Wimberley. The side kick appeals to me due to the ease of converting back and forth to the ball head. Take mostly nature shots and would use for birds in flight.
