I'm taking my D200 and 18 - 200mm lens to France in April. What do the experienced Nikonians recommend for a lightweight travel tripod? I'm thinking something that is a "mini" that will sit on the ground, a bench, etc. but don't know what's good. I'm not interested in taking a full-size tripod.
I'm using just the platform "head" on the BH-25, that's just the standard tripod screw. I'm not using the quick release clamps although I do have that system (clamp & plates for my cameras) on my larger tripod. I find that my camera plates (if mounted) do that the tripod screw and then I can also use it for may P&S cameras or for travel companion cameras since they are likely not to use the ArcaSwiss standard plates on their small cameras.
The more recent platforms also have a cork face/gasket mounted, mine is just before that and there is no cork top finishing.
For France, I like the wine bottle also, but really it's a fence railing or a lamp post .
Roger It is still ISO, aperture and shutter speed, right? "Nikonians membership - My most important photographic investment."
