I wanted something small to leave in the top of my bag for car trips and quick setup . I ordered the Giotto QU405 and a Giotto Mini ball head from Amazon ( Ace Photo) Total cost was around $75 which is a lot considering there are a number of little 12 in tripods for less than $30.

Well it came today and is an engineering marvel. It is really made well and is very stable with my D80 and 28-70 2.8 sigma (Pretty heavy lens). It folds to 11 in. and extends to 17. I really haven't tried it yet except for some test shots around the house but can't wait to take it on a car road trip. BTW , it can be left folded and used as a small monopod.

Nothing too exciting but i know from searching that folks seem to be always looking for a small portable tripod and this one is well made and works well. Be aware that they have models more suited for small video cameras and point and shoots but this model and the 305 seem well suited for DSLR shooting.
