Hi, What is the function of the small spring loaded pin on the mounting plate of the head of my Tanner TR 404 tripod? I have seen them on many other brands also. Which is the proper way of mounting the camera on the plate, with the pin anterior, posterior or to the side? I dislike that pin as it has caused scratches on the base plate of my Nikon N70 which is 2 1/2 years old and looks brand new. Thanks in advance
