Hi,

I am probably not the only one here unable to afford a $700 Gitzo tripod, so I am exploring other options. The two obvious choices which seem to offer identical specs and materials to the gitzo at less than half the price are Induro and Feisol. I have been looking at the following:

Feisol 3402 http://www.feisol.net/product_info.php?cPath=1_14&products_id=31&osCsid=a4c7d6f7d460fa459c7aedc1f165f04b

Feisol 3442 http://www.feisol.net/product_info.php?cPath=1_14&products_id=31&osCsid=a4c7d6f7d460fa459c7aedc1f165f04b

Induro C214

The Feisol 3442 seems to be the most attractive of the bunch in terms of its combination of weight and load capacity.

I have a couple of questions I can't ever seem to get straight answers to:

1) Honestly, how much different are these tripods from a comparable gitzo (eg. the 1540T)? They all have the same features, all the same specs, except the Feisol and Induro are less than half the price. I'm not at all hard on my stuff, but I don't like to buy ##### either.

2) By the looks of things, the Feisol has REVERSE folding legs, where the Induros do not (please correct me if I am wrong here). I use a Markins M20 ball head, and I need to know if a) I can reverse fold the legs without damaging the Markins head and/or b) Can I fold the legs normally so that it doesn't matter what ball head I use, at the expense of a slightly longer folded package?

I would really appreciate any insight/experience/user comments on the above equipment. The maximum weight of my heaviest setup including Markins M20 and Wimberley sidekick is 7.96 lbs, so I figure a load capacity around 25 lbs will be just fine.

Thanks in advance,

Mark
