So I got my new Really Right Stuff BH-40 last week. Next to my D200, this is the best piece of camera gear I've ever owned. It's not just a piece of hardware, it's also a work of art. It was tough to cough up the $$, but I'm glad I did. It's one of those things that makes using a tripod a joy instead of a chore.
If you're looking for a ball head, you owe it to yourself to try one before making a final decision. I know I sound like I work for RRS. But I'm just a happy customer!

Not sure what you're talking about...
It's listed on RRS site: http://www.reallyrightstuff.com/ballheads/index.html
$390 with the lever (own one of these and a BH-55 both with levers!).
Nikkor? Didn't he fight Godzilla in the 2nd movie?

I'm also a recent convert to RRS, have a couple of their clamps and an L bracket. Great stuff.
Just received one of their little BH-25 heads and put it on a G=1097. This is my ultralight rig for the backcountry and I'm tickled to death over the BH-25. Holds my D80 with a 180/2.8 - no worries. Wonderful workmanship from this company, to be sure.
The little combo weighs in at 905 grams! Thank you RRS and Gitzo
