I just jumped off the deep end and bought a Nikon 200-400mm AFS VR and now have to equip it for use with a Markins M20 head and Wimberley Sidekick. I ordered the Kirk LP-47 replacement foot from PhotoProShop. However, I now wonder if it would be better to use the Wimberley AP553 since Wimberley makes it for use with the Sidekick.
Does anyone have any experience or advice with regard to this choice? I will appreciate any help you can give me.

Yes. Some opt for the Wimberley foot which is closer to the lens. If you do a lot of work with the sidekick this may be a consideration for you, but I've never regretted my purchase. It's also a lot easier to carry by the Kirk foot.
