Any suggestions for a hard case for securing equipment? I have an upcoming convention and cruise. Won't be able to carry all equipment with me at all times. Any suggestions for a case - Pelican, Flashpoint, etc. to lock down with a cable?
I use a ThinkTank Airport International for this purpose. It has a cable to lock it to the room, and it has locks on it to keep everything inside. It's clearly defeatable, but it'll certainly stop the opportunistic thieves, and it will at least leave a lot of evidence or delay the professionals. I still have everything up to date with my insurance agent.

My father used to say that a lock will keep an honest man honest. Just trying to keep someone from picking up the gear and walking off. It someone wants it bad enough, he/she will take it. I'm looking for something a little better than stuffing it under the bed and hoping they don't look.

I used these last year on an extended trip. No problems. Of course, I don't know if anyone actually tried to break in, or even looked and decided not to. But the other side of "locks keep honest people out" is that "crooks look for the easiest mark". Everything you do that makes it more difficult is goodness, and encourages the bad guys to try another room.
I travel with two Pelican cases, a heavy bicycle cable and two heavy padlocks. I weave the cable through something heavy and padlock a case to each end of the cable. So far (knock on wood) I've had no problems.
