Big trip to Africa coming up in 6 weeks and I'm having 2nd thoughts about my bag. It's a Manfrotto Lino Pro V. Measures 16.73in x 13.39 x 10.24. That makes it about 1 & 1/4 in. deeper than the limit on United. Will also be on Lufthansa, Kenya air and Turkish Air. Do any of you see this as a problem or should I break down and buy another bag? I know when we go out on Safari in the smaller planes space is limited but bags are not to far away. Thanks Dale
Your big problem is Kenya Airlines. They're not going to like your bag.
The biggest problem with a bag that's more than 10", and regularly, 10" is pushing it, is that it doesn't fit into many overhead bins of smaller standard airplanes like A319's A320's and B737's. You must add to the 10", in your case 10.24", the backpack's harness, which adds a far from insignificant thickness. No backpack which I use for travel is more than 9" deep.
