Having made the big step about 3 years ago to move into the digital world from celluloid, I now find myself delving even deeper into DSLR's by discarding my D300 and D300s and entering the world of the D800. Many of my current lenses will go, but I am undecided whether to retain or sell my Sigma 150-500 lens. Living in South Africa the opportunities for great wildlife photography is boundless and therefore need that extra focal length at times. I appreciate this Sigma is far from ideal for a camera with these attributes, but my pocket is not boundless sadly at the moment. So the advice I need is shown below:-

1. Should I keep or sell my Sigma 150-500 to use with my, arriving tomorrow, new D800

2. Is it possible to use a 2 X Converter on this lens in conjunction with this camera and would the results be worth that investment?

3. If a X2 will work with this lens/camera combo which converter make should I purchase?

Any advice from anyone having been posed with a similar question in the past would be gratefully received.
