In the N65 manual it says something like using non-Nikon lenses needs manual focus instead. So, if I were to get a Tokina or Tamron lens, the autofocus wouldn't work? Has anyone tried an N65 with one of these lenses?
I don't mind manual, I'm trying to learn it now, but I like to AF option for times in a hurry or for my wife.
What we eventually would like to do, is to photograph insects close up (it's much nicer than killing and collecting them like we had to do for a class).
Thanks! And advice is most welcome!

You should be fine with Tamron and Tokina. The N65's focusing motor isn't quite as powerful as other models, so although your focusing will be sluggish on the non-nikkors, it'll still be ok...
Make sure you get a recent production run lens, not one that's been sitting on the shelves...
