I just bought the 24-70mm and 70-200 vr2 from BH photo. BH includes free Luminesque 67mm UV and Circular Polarizer Multi Coated Pro Filter Kit. Questions: 1. The UV filter mainly used for lens protection. Is it worth putting it on? Do you know who makes them? Do you have any experience with their polarizer filter? 2. What is the brand you are using for your lenses? 3. I am looking into buying a Lee adaptor for the 14-24 and Lee filters. What kit I need for using the Lee filters on the 24-70?
It's interesting to note that B&H doesn't sell those filters separately from their camera kits. That suggests it's a house brand, probably relabeled from a manufacturer who sells them under a different marque.
1. Personally, I believe lens hoods are better protection than filters for lenses. But it's not going t harm anything if you use it although maybe a color cast if they aren't well coated. I suspect either Sunpak or Tiffen make them but that's just a guess. I got the same pack but won't be using them myself.
2. I usually use heliopan and b+w. I've also got one Singh-ray.
